This is a product leadership role: you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI-powered applications that go into the hands of field and headquarters teams, driving decisions that affect patients and brands at scale.
The Role:
The Director, AI Product Developmentispart oftheAI for Commercial (AIC) team within the newly founded Enterprise AI organization. You will lead the design, build, launch, and adoption of GenAI and ML-powered products that serveGlobal and US functions includingcommercial, medical,market access, and patient programs. You define the roadmap, drive cross-functional execution, and are accountable for measured business impact.
Key Responsibilities
• Own the full AI product lifecycle: from problem definition andcustomerresearch throughAIdevelopment, UX design, deployment, adoption, and measurement. This means shipping products, not delivering reports.
• Lead GenAI and agentic AI product development. Define product requirements and functional specifications for AI-powered applications, agentic workflows, and ML-driven tools serving medical, commercial, and field teams.
• Translate business questions into product requirements. Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs,GIBEX, Field Operations, and IT to align product capabilities with brandobjectives, field workflows, and launch timelines.
• Partner with technicaldeliveryleads, engineering, and data science teams to translate requirements into scalable and governed solutions, ensure high-quality, timely execution. Establish clear RACI,maintainalignment on priorities, and drive accountability across a cross-functional delivery model.
• Drive adoption andimpactmeasurement. Define success criteria beforelaunch; track usage, output quality, and downstream business impact post-launch. Communicate results to leadership with clarity.
• Operate within enterprise AI governance. Navigate compliance requirements, data access controls, vendor management, and IT approval processes. Ensure all products are deployed responsibly and withappropriate documentation.
• Stay current with GenAI, agentic AI, and pharma AI trends.Identifyemerging capabilities with strategic fit, pilot solutions with speed and rigor, and champion a platform-centric approach that enables reuse, scalability, and accelerated deployment across functions and markets.
MinimumRequirements
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or equivalent); advanced degree preferred
• 7+ years of experience building and shipping data science or AI products in a commercial setting; 3+ years of experiencein building Gen AI tools and platforms.
• Demonstrated experience owning an AI product end-to-end: requirements, development, deployment, and post-launch measurement
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and/or agentic frameworks (e.g.,LangChain,LlamaIndex, or similar)
• Fluency in Python and ML/AI tooling; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong product thinking: ability to define user needs, write clear requirements, prioritize a backlog, and communicate tradeoffs to customers
• 3+ years in Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences; familiarity with commercial data and field-facing workflows
Desirable Requirements
• Experience building GenAI products under enterprise governance requirements
• Background spanning multiple functions: Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, or Insights & Analytics
• Demonstrated ability to drive user adoption: training, change management, and usage analytics
• Experience managing external suppliers and consultants against defined deliverables and timelines
• Strong executive communication skills; comfortable presenting product roadmaps and cases to senior leadership in a matrixed organization

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $186,014 - $279,022 USD
